Ok so I’ve been here before and I thought this was an all vegan restaurant. It is not. There is meat and egg served here.
However, the good thing for vegetarians and vegans is that there is no fish sauce or MSG served in any of their dishes. So their menu is a little confusing by noting ‘vegan’ dishes when technically they can all be vegan with using only vegetables or adding vegan meat like daring chicken or tofu (and subtracting egg if in dish).
I will say the flavors were absolutely delicious! I was quite surprised at how tasty their curry was and their rice was like a ginger-lemongrass flavor, which was yum in its own. The dumplings and spring rolls were tasty too. I’ll definitely be back. Just hoping they don’t cook the vegan food right next to the meat.
Very small Thai restaurant in Chelsea. The fried tofu was very plain, and the crust was flaky/came off. The vegan curry puffs were sooo good, like a samosa but more flavorful. The drunken noodles had the standard flavor profile, but a bit too oily and oddly sweet. The red curry was phenomenal: this alone makes it easy to recommend this restaurant. In fact, I think this was the best thai food in NYC out of the 6ish restaurants I've been to (way better than Thai Diner or THEP). I found the best aspect of this restaurant to be the wide variety of vegetarian/vegan options, including multiple vegan proteins like veg duck, daring chicken, and impossible meat.
Tried the vegan chive pancakes and pad see ew with mock duck. Personally, I didn’t love the mock duck but the noodles were tasty and I’d definitely try another plant-based protein on my next visit.
The prices are a bit on the higher side for Thai food, but the quality of food was on point. The service was a bit slow, but the staff acknowledged that several times.
This is a pretty small restaurant so I’d recommend it for 2-4 people max. Excellent for dining with mixed dietary habits.
Service: Despite arriving 15 minutes late for our reservation, the restaurant was nearly empty with two empty tables when we left. However, the waitress's comment about being on time was perceived as rude.
Atmosphere: The restaurant offers a cozy ambiance but can get congested at times. The closely arranged tables make it challenging to move around.
Food - As this was our 2nd visit we tasted many dishes which included Pad Thai (very sweet in taste), Pineapple Fried Rice (Wasn't very flavorful), Vegan Khao Nar Ped, and many more. The best among them were Vegan Khao Soi, Tom Kha Soup, Vegan Curry Puff, Pad See Ew, and Pad Kee Mao.
While the prices were on the higher side, the portion sizes were sufficient to satisfy your appetite. Overall, despite some minor inconveniences, we would recommend this restaurant and plan to return in the future.
Thai food is something I resisted for many years. I'm not sure why. I just didn't get it. However, last year around this time, my boss took me to Glur for lunch. Wow. I was hooked. The mock duck is spectacular. I've gotten it in Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. I've never been disappointed. Their coffee is also great, though a little to sweet for my tastes. I'm used to drinking my coffee black. They have a Michelin Star. It's a small space for dining with big groups, but cute if it's just two.
The food was amazing, although it was a bit pricey, and the service was just okay. Unfortunately, I arrived 10 minutes before my wife, and even though there were some unoccupied tables, the waitress only allowed me to be seated when she arrived. After finally getting our table, it took a while for our orders to be taken. I don't blame the staff, as there was only one person serving tables, and the restaurant was full.
However, once we placed our orders, the food arrived surprisingly fast, and it was absolutely delicious. I decided to try the Thai Lemon Ice Tea, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. We started with some vegan Chive pancakes as appetizers. For our main courses, my wife went with the Vegan Khao Soi. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of the dish I ordered, but it came with broccoli, sliced chicken breast, rice, and a sweet and sour sauce. If we had to choose, we'd definitely recommend the Khao Soi.
All in all, the food was excellent, albeit a bit on the pricey side. The only downside was the service, which could use some improvement.
I really like Glur!! It’s a small but cozy restaurant with really nice people working here. The green curry is creamy and nourishing. I also often order takeouts from here and the food is always good.
We loved this place! We went on a Saturday night around 6pm and had to wait around 15 minutes for a table because the place is small and seating is limited. …
